Karen Lappi and Opie participate in Tractor Supply's "Out here With Horses" days as ambassadors for the American Quarter Horse Association. Opie's registered name is Watch Berry Close (out of Berry Impressive and Tyree's Watch).  Opie gets a stall for the day in the air conditioned store and greets all the youngsters! Also Opie and Karen participate in obstacle challenges. Carol Perez (webperson) rides in a paso finodrill team, Paso Elegante. We've performed at several shows in Ocala. . John Dalziel and Nanci Fish and their horses are involved in desensitizing horse clinics and mounted possee. Their horses always look so happy! They must be doing something right. Mounted on their Florida Cracker Horses, Altoona Trailriders members Judi Allison (Altoona) and Bill Boston (Umatilla) helped commemorate the 469th anniversary of DeSoto's Landing  at De Soto National Memorial in Bradenton, Florida. Dressed in period garb from 1539, they portrayed Spanish  conquistadors of  DeSoto's cavalry and were able to relate the history of the Cracker Horse and its heritage to the Spanish exploration of Florida. Since the event, legislation has passed making the Florida Cracker Horse officially  "Florida's Heritage Horse". Besides their acting skills, the horses, Yucatan Blue and QP Chloe have participated in many Altoona Trailriders functions. In her spare time Pam Courtemanche plays 'Hi Ho Silver' in the water at Doe Lake with her horse Cloud.
