CeCe is not only the ATR Horse of the Year, but he is the pony of a lifetime.
Sue Rogers went to an auction years ago looking for a nice pony for her
small son Ritchie and found this nice paint pony. She ended up paying
a bit more for him than she wanted to, but she thought he looked like he
would handle the job of taking care of Ritchie. And CeCe took his
new job very seriously. For many years, he made sure Ritchie had
safe rides. He never put a foot out of place, he never kicked or
bit or bucked him off. Even when Ritchie was not sure what he was
doing in the saddle, CeCe knew exactly what he was to do.
Ritchie is now 14 years old and almosts 6 feet
tall, so he obviously has outgrown CeCe. No one really knows how
old CeCe is, but he is getting very gray around the face. And no
one really knows his breeding. But these details are insignificant
when defining the companionship that he has provided over the years. CeCe
has a new job now; teaching the Newby boys how to ride a pony. And
he is doing it with the same care and concern he displayed all those years
with Ritchie. It makes one wonder how this great pony ended
up at an auction to begin with. He will never be for sale again;
he has a home for life with the Rogers' family. After all, you cannot
put a price tag on a solid gold pony.
